My background
My journey into fitness and nutrition began with my love of sports. Growing up in River Falls, I played baseball, football, and basketball. During high school football is where I got my first taste of weight lifting. There was just something about the comradery built lifting weights with a bunch of your buddies and teammates. After graduating high school, I attended the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point for a year before transferring to the University of Wisconsin-Stout. At Stout, I earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in marketing and sales. I also earned my master’s in information and communication technologies.
While in college, my love for strength training grew. I used the weight room as a way to be active and train even though I was not playing college sports. Although I was training all the time in college, I was still not in great shape. A diet of pizza rolls, burritos, fast food, and Old Milwaukee didn’t help. During this time, I gained a lot of weight and had low energy most of the time. This was when I really started researching fitness and nutrition. Determined to make changes, I learned how important nutrition and sleep plays in overall health. I realized that you can’t out-train poor nutrition and sleep. I dropped over forty pounds by cleaning up my diet, getting more sleep, and training.
After college, I worked in various sales and marketing roles for eight years. I was laid off from my marketing manager role at a construction company in November 2018 with little warning and no reason given. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Instead of hanging my head I decided this was the best thing that could happen because I did not like working behind a desk for a poorly run company anyways. I decided this was the perfect time to change my career, and take my passion for helping people and build a career in fitness and nutrition. I took an internship, working with youth athletes. It was a great opportunity to learn and gain experience coaching youth athletes in speed and strength training sessions.
My training experience also grew while working with and learning from some of the best coaches in the world. Including Dr. John Rusin, Cody McBroom, Joe DeFranco, and Jim Smith. I train people of all age ranges. From youth athletes to general population men and women. My training is based on the fundamental movement patterns. Coaching clients in strength, conditioning, sports performance, mobility, recovery, nutrition, I can help you achieve your goals. Whether that is weight loss, muscle gain, or becoming more athletic. I will design an individualized plan to help you achieve your goals.
